DEME can develop, steer, manage and execute complex projects to the client’s requirements and help finance them. DEME’s philosophy is based on working very closely with the client throughout the whole project to ensure that a comprehensive, cost-effective solution is provided to their full satisfaction.
In an operational environment with an involvement in complex project structures with high expectations from our worldwide clientele, DEME is able to offer a total solution through a variety of innovative international contract forms (turn-key, Engineering-Procurement-Construction (EPC), Design-Build-Finance-Maintain (DBFM), Early Contractor Involvement (ECI), etc…) for complex dredging and marine infrastructure projects, in which contractual, financing and project insurance techniques go hand in hand.
Finding a joint solution with a client, in some occasions through a joint special purpose vehicle (SPC), is highly beneficial for the client’s project. In this respect, joint solutions and initiatives together with clients are encouraged regarding:
- specific contractual avenues, safeguarding joint contractual concerns and smoothening the execution of a project;
- tailor made financing packages, enhancing a project’s viability;
- specialized project insurance settings, covering all and any project partner involved in relation to the management of the various project risks;
- joint intellectual property protection with business partners, securing the life of particular project products and data after the project’s completion.
DEME Concessions was established by the end of April 2013 and aims to regroup all concessions of the DEME Group in the field of dredging and land reclamation, offshore wind energy, wave and tidal energy and offshore mineral resources.
In September 2013, the C-Power offshore wind farm situated on the Thornton Bank was inaugurated. The 325 MW wind farm is the largest off the Belgian coast and will provide green energy to 300,000 households. DEME Concessions NV holds DEME’s participation in C-POWER.
DEME is a partner in the Belgian project development companies Otary (future wind farms Rentel, Seastar and Mermaid) and Power@Sea. Both are experienced partners in Public-Private partnerships (PPP), concession schemes and Build-Operate-Transfer (BOT) arrangements in the offshore wind sector. Participations in other projects abroad is under study.
