Port Drummond

Challenge

Construction of a turning and berth basin with design of 20.5m MSL, requiring dredging of approximately 12 million cubic meters of mixed soils, ranging from recent marine sediments to stiff clays.

Our solution

With an initial water depth ranging between 3.5m and 7.0m MSL, a total of 4 hoppers were used to meet the 6 months completion milestone, involving simultaneous dredging activities with 3 hoppers during 4 months approximately.

Piling, jetty construction, delivery per vessel of loader, loader / conveyor installation and fender installation were ongoing during dredging operations.

Strict environmental restrictions to be followed in order to minimise any recirculation of sediments into the environment and adjacent port areas.
