Recently, our local project team in Costa Rica partnered with Moín Primary School to host the “Friends of the Sea: Discovering, Caring, and Enjoying” campaign - an educational initiative to introduce young pupils to the beauty and importance of marine ecosystems.
Led by an environmental specialist, the campaign featured interactive workshops, games, quizzes, and painting sessions. More than 100 children aged 4 to 12 learned about local marine species, their habitats, and the impact of pollution, waste, and overfishing on the ocean.
The aim was to spark curiosity and raise awareness of the importance of protecting our seas. Each child left not only with a gift and a smile, but also with new knowledge and inspiration to adopt sustainable habits in their daily lives.
At DEME, we believe lasting impact goes beyond our projects - it means connecting with local communities, exchanging knowledge, and learning from each other to care for the environment together.
