Scheldetunnel immersion operation underway! Early this morning, the first of eight tunnel elements set off toward its final destination beneath the Scheldt River. After a journey guided by four tugboats and with immersion pontoons Asterix and Obelix, it will be carefully immersed onto the riverbed near the Left Bank at Sint-Annabos – following years of design, construction, and testing.

Employees at the DEME head office enjoyed a front-row view of the impressive 160-meter-long structure passing by on the river.
