The Gorinchem–Waardenburg (GoWa) project involves the reinforcement of approximately 23 km of dikes along the River Waal in the Netherlands. Delivered as part of the Dutch High Water Protection Programme, the project aims to enhance flood safety for residents and businesses in the region.
The project combines engineering expertise, sustainable design principles and close collaboration between project partners to develop solutions that meet future safety standards. Particular attention is given to reducing environmental impact through efficient construction methods and innovative project delivery models.
By strengthening this critical flood defence system, the project contributes to the long-term resilience of one of the Netherlands' most important river corridors.
